Esmond Road, London.

Client: private
Contract Value: £65,000
Completed 2001

This project is an extension to a flat for a travel writer. We demolished existing utility buildings to the rear and reoriented the ground floor towards the garden. The sculptural quality of the new enclosure, use of light and materials were conceived as landscape elements in their own right to form a continuity of garden spaces extending deep into the flat.

The landscape theme was developed in relation to the clients work as a travel writer and provides not only a contemplative setting condusive to work but also fragments - a pool with archipelago of rocks in particular - which evoke memories of distant journeys.
