43C Cleveland Square. London.

Client: Mr and Mrs Thomas
Contract value: £130,000
Completed: 2002

Internal refurbishment and new rooftop extension focused on the sequence of entry and ascent through the three storey apartment to a study for the client as a place to work from home and to display his collection of contemporary ceramics.

A flat structural glass rooflight running the full width of the top space allowed headroom to be achieved in the new extension without being visible above the ridge line from the front – a planning restriction. It also illuminates the display wall and allows the Mary Poppins world of clay chimney pots and contemporary ceramics to be juxtaposed.
